A filmstrip, also known as a film reel or movie reel, is a linear sequence of photographic images recorded on a strip of film. Other synonyms for the term filmstrip include movie tape, motion picture reel, cine film, celluloid strip, and photographic film. The term "film stock" can also be used to describe the physical material used to capture images and sound in film production. While digital technology has largely replaced film-based media in recent years, filmstrips remain an important part of film history and continue to be used in some specialized applications. Regardless of the term used, filmstrips continue to be an iconic symbol of the motion picture industry.
