Fire trails are commonly used words in the context of wildfire management and prevention. They are improvised in landscapes that are likely to face the ravages of fire, in an attempt to create a barrier between dry foliage and adjacent areas that could catch fire. However, there are different synonyms that could be used for the same concept. Firebreak, fire line, fuel break and fire lane are some of the commonly used terms in place of fire trail. Regardless of the nomenclature, the ultimate objective is to minimize the risk of fire and its subsequent damage, either through natural means or human intervention, by preventing the spread of fire.
