A fly wall is a term commonly used to describe a surface that is covered with numerous insects, particularly flies. However, there are a host of synonyms that can be used in place of this phrase to describe the same idea. These include a swarm of flies, a cloud of flies, a gathering of flies, a congregation of flies, or a plague of flies. Additionally, the term "flypaper" can also be used, as this describes the sticky strips that are hung to trap the insects, colloquially called flypaper. Regardless of the word choice, the underlying concept remains the same: the presence of an unpleasant and pervasive infestation of flies.
