Fragaria vesca, commonly known as wild strawberry or alpine strawberry, has several synonyms in the English language. Some of these synonyms include woodland strawberry, European strawberry, fraga, fraughan, and little strawberry. In addition to these, fragaria vesca is also sometimes referred to as a mock strawberry due to its similarity in appearance to the garden strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa). This small berry has a sweet and mildly tart flavor and is often used in jams, desserts, and beverages. Fragaria vesca can be found growing in the wild throughout Europe and Asia, and can also be cultivated in a variety of climates.
