Frankists were a group of 18th century Jewish followers of the Polish theologian Jacob Frank. They were a secretive sect of Judaism that believed in a mix of traditional Jewish beliefs, Kabbalah, and Christianity. While there are no direct synonyms for Frankists, some terms may describe this group and their beliefs, such as mystics, sectarians, heretics, and apostates. More general terms such as unconventional, controversial, and unorthodox may also apply. Despite their unorthodox beliefs, the Frankists had a lasting impact on the development of Eastern European Jewish culture and history.
