Garcinia Gummi-gutta, commonly known as Malabar tamarind, is a tropical fruit native to Southeast Asia and India. It is also referred to as brindleberry, gambooge, goraka, and kokum butter tree, among other names. The fruit is widely known for its medicinal properties and is used in traditional medicine to aid in weight loss, digestive problems, and joint pain. The extract of the fruit's rind is rich in hydroxycitric acid (HCA), which is believed to be responsible for its weight loss properties. Although the fruit is primarily used in traditional medicine, its extract is now a popular ingredient in many weight loss supplements and is marketed under various brand names.
