Gaylussacia Frondosa, commonly known as dangleberry or black huckleberry, is a small multi-stemmed shrub that is native to eastern North America. It is known for its edible, juicy fruit which is often used for making jams and jellies. Synonyms for Gaylussacia Frondosa include Vaccinium frondosum, huckleberry, and G. dumosa. It is commonly found in moist woods, swamps, and bogs, and can grow up to six feet tall. Similar species include G. baccata, which is similar in appearance but has a shorter, more compact growth habit. G. mosieri is another similar species that grows in wetlands and has smaller, less showy flowers.
