The Genus Callicebus is a group of New World monkeys commonly found in South America. These primates are also known by various synonyms, which are alternative names used to refer to them. These synonyms include the titi monkey, which is a name derived from their characteristic vocalizations. Other synonyms of this genus include the saki monkey and bearded saki because of the long and thick hair around their faces. Some of the species within the Callicebus genus also have specific synonyms, such as the golden-backed uakari and white-eared titi. Despite having different synonyms, all the species within the Callicebus genus share similar features such as their arboreal lifestyle and social behavior.
