Being a popular ornamental plant, it has several synonyms for its scientific name such as C. canadensis, C. reniformis and C. siliquastrum. The Eastern Redbud is a member of the pea family, Fabaceae, and is often recognized for its pink/ purple flowers that bloom in early spring.
