Genus Plagianthus is a group of plant species that belong to the family Malvaceae. This genus is commonly known as Ribbonwood due to the ribbon-like appearance of its bark. Some of the synonyms for this genus include Hoheria, Plagianthopsis, and Sterculia. While all of these names refer to plants within the same family, they may have different characteristics and habitats. For example, Hoheria species are mainly limited to New Zealand and Australia, while Plagianthopsis species are found in South America. Regardless of their differences, all members of the genus Plagianthus are known for their attractive, slender leaves and striking white or pink flowers.
