Genus Sceliphron is a group of wasps that are commonly referred to as mud daubers due to their habit of constructing nests out of mud. Although they are all members of the same genus, there are several different species within this group, each with its own characteristics and behavior patterns. Some common synonyms for Genus Sceliphron include mud wasp, mud dauber wasp, and black and yellow mud dauber. In addition, there are also other genera of wasps that construct their nests out of mud, including the genus Trypoxylon and the genus Chalybion, which may be confused with members of Genus Sceliphron.
