Genus Thysanocarpus, commonly known as fringepod, is a group of flowering plants in the mustard family. There are various synonyms for this genus including Thelypodium, Lesquerella, Physaria, Nasturtium, and Rorippa. These different names have been used at various times due to taxonomy changes and reclassifications. However, regardless of the name, species within this genus are known for their unique fringed seed pods, which are used in dispersal of their seeds. There are around 40 species within this genus, which are found predominantly in western North America with some also found in Central America. They are typically found in open, rocky areas and are sometimes used as ornamental plants.
