Genus Verbascum, commonly known as mullein, is a flowering plant that belongs to the family Scrophulariaceae. The genus is comprised of around 360 species, and some of its synonyms include Verbascum thapsus, Aaron's rod, and velvet plant. These tall, biennial plants grow in full sun and well-draining soil, and feature large, fuzzy leaves that store moisture. They are known for their tall spikes of flowers that can reach up to six feet in height and bloom in a range of colors, including yellow, pink, and purple.
