Gliomatosis cerebri (GC) is a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer that affects the nerve cells in the brain. It is also known as diffuse astrocytosis or infiltrative astrocytoma. Other synonyms for GC include astrocytoma, glioma, glial cell tumor, malignant brain tumor, and brain cancer. The symptoms of GC include seizures, headaches, memory loss, vision problems, and difficulty walking. GC is often difficult to diagnose because its symptoms mimic those of other neurological conditions. Treatment options for GC include surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. However, due to the aggressive nature of the disease, the prognosis for GC is typically poor.
