The Gymnogyps Californianus, better known as the California Condor, is a critically endangered species of bird that is native to North America. There are several synonyms that are often used to refer to this majestic creature, including the American Condor, California Vulture, and the Canyon Condor. The California Condor is the largest flying bird in North America with a wingspan of nearly ten feet. Unfortunately, due to habitat destruction, hunting, and poisoning, the population of California Condors has drastically declined over the past few decades. Today, there are only about 400 of these magnificent birds left in the wild, making their conservation a top priority.
