HAART, also known as highly active antiretroviral therapy, is a lifesaving treatment for individuals living with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). The combination of drugs works to suppress the virus and prevent the progression to Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). While HAART is the commonly used term, there are several synonyms for it. Some of the most popular terms used for HAART include combination therapy, antiretroviral therapy (ART), and highly active therapy (HAT). Additionally, the term triple therapy is also used when referring to HAART, as the treatment often consists of three different antiretroviral drugs. It's important to remember that HAART or any of its synonyms is the most effective way to manage HIV and prevent it from taking over the body's immune system.
