Haematomas, also known as bruises, are a common injury caused by bleeding under the skin due to physical trauma. There are several synonyms for the term haematomas, such as contusion, ecchymosis, hematoma, and blood clot. Contusion is a medical term used to describe a tissue injury that leads to bleeding under the skin. Ecchymosis refers to widespread bruising, which in turn is caused by significant blood accumulation under the skin. Hematoma, on the other hand, is a more severe form of haematoma, characterized by a large collection of blood in a particular body area. Blood clot occurs when blood congeals and forms a firm mass inside a blood vessel.
