Halesia Carolina is a flowering tree also known as "Carolina Silverbell". It is native to the southeastern United States and gets its name from the silvery white bell-shaped flowers that bloom on its branches in the springtime. Other synonyms for Halesia Carolina include "Snowdrop tree" due to the snow-like appearance of the white blooms, "Opossum wood" as the wood was said to be a favorite of opossums for its softness, and "Virginian Silverbell" because of its origin in Virginia. No matter what name it goes by, the Halesia Carolina is a lovely addition to any garden with its stunning foliage and delicate flowers.
