Hog deer, also known as Baluchistan or Bornean spotted deer, is a medium-sized deer species native to Southeast Asia. These deer are known for their distinctive hog-like face and sharp tusks. In Southeast Asia, hog deer are known by various names depending on their location. In India, they are commonly called "para" or "patha" deer, while in Thailand, they are known as "khrang" or "khran." Malaysian natives call them "kijang" or "pelandok," and in Indonesia, they are called "rusa babi." Despite their various names, hog deer are highly valued for their meat and are considered an important game species for hunters in many regions.
