Indomethacin is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat pain and inflammation caused by various conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, gout, and osteoarthritis. Some of the synonyms for this drug include indocin, indolan, indothermal, and tendinyl. Indocin is the most commonly used synonym for indomethacin in the United States. Indolan and indothermal are other brand names for the drug that are used in European countries. Tendinyl is a combination drug that includes indomethacin and another medication called benorylate. While these medications have different brand names, they all contain the same active ingredient and are used to treat similar conditions.
