Influenza vaccination, also known as flu shot, is the most effective way of preventing influenzas virus that can cause severe respiratory illness. There are a number of synonyms that can be used instead of the term influenza vaccination. Some of these include seasonal flu vaccine, annual flu shot, flu jab, flu vaccine and flu immunization. Similarly, the term vaccination is often replaced with immunization or inoculation to describe the process of injecting a person with a vaccine. Whatever the term used, it is important to get vaccinated against influenza to reduce the risk of serious complications such as pneumonia, bronchitis and hospitalization.
