Inga Edulis, also known as the ice cream bean plant, has several synonyms that are used interchangeably by different people. Some commonly used synonyms for this tropical fruit tree include the guaba, huabilla, and pacay plant. In Costa Rica, it is also known as the "guama tree," while in Ecuador it is referred to as "tamarindo dulce." Another name for this fruit tree is the matunda ya kwanza, which is used in Kenya. This tree can grow up to 80 feet tall and produces pods filled with cotton-like fibers and sweet tasting white pulp. Regardless of what it's called, Inga Edulis remains a delicious and nutritious tropical fruit tree.
