Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) is a medical imaging technology that is commonly used to visualize the inside of blood vessels. There are several synonyms for IVUS, including intracoronary ultrasound (ICUS), endovascular ultrasound (EUS), and intraluminal ultrasound (ILUS). ICUS specifically refers to the use of IVUS to image the inside of coronary arteries. EUS is a broader term that refers to the use of ultrasound in any area of the body accessible through an endoscope. ILUS is a more general term that refers to the use of ultrasound to image the inside of any hollow organ or structure. Despite their different names, all of these techniques involve the use of ultrasound to image the interior of blood vessels, providing valuable diagnostic information for medical professionals.
