Jerid is a desert sport commonly practiced in North Africa. This sport is also known by several other names, such as "Fantasia," "Game of Gunfire," and "Mezoura." In certain regions of North Africa, it is also called "Daqa Marrakchia" or "Marrakech-style Jousting," and "Khamsa" or "Five" in Tunisia. This traditional game involves galloping on horseback while throwing and catching a wooden stick, with the aim of hitting a target. Though it is known by a few names, the spirit and excitement of jerid remain the same for its enthusiast players and audience.
