Kamehameha the Great, King Kamehameha I, or simply Kamehameha I, is a historical figure often synonymous with Hawaii's unification. He achieved this in 1810, after years of military conquests. Kamehameha means "the one who brings together" in Hawaiian, and he lived up to his name by uniting the people of the islands under one rule.
