Kirlian photography is a type of photographic technique that utilizes high voltage and low current electricity to capture an image of an object's electromagnetic field. There are several other terms used to describe this type of photography, including aura photography, electrography, corona discharge photography, and bioelectrophotography. While the term Kirlian photography is the most widely recognized, these synonyms aim to better describe the method that is used to produce the image. Aura photography, for example, references the belief that the image captures the energy emanating from a person's aura, while corona discharge photography refers to the electrical discharge that produces the image. All these synonyms, however, refer to the same photographic process.
