Kudu lily, known scientifically as Ruscus Hypophyllum, is an evergreen shrub native to the Mediterranean region. It's renowned for its unique, smooth foliage and bright red berries that bloom during winter. Though kudu lily is the popular name for this beautiful plant, it's similarly identified as butcher's broom or horse tongue dover. Other synonyms for the kudu lily include knee holly, Jewish myrtle, sweet broom, pettigree greenwire, and box holly. Despite the names kudu lily, butcher's broom, and horse tongue dover being more common, the kudu lily is widely known around the world for its medicinal properties and ornamental use in homes and gardens.
