Lagarostrobus Colensoi, commonly known as the New Zealand pencil pine, is a rare evergreen coniferous tree. This species is found in the central North Island of New Zealand, growing in the sub-alpine regions of the national park. Despite its limited distribution and rare population, it remains an important and distinctive tree for local ecology. Its fragrant and durable wood is also much sought after for furniture and crafts. Other common synonyms for this species include the mountain totara, Halocarpus bidwillii, and Dacrydium bidwillii.
