Larus canus, commonly known as the Mew Gull, is a species of seabird that belongs to the family Laridae. Synonyms of this bird species include the Common Gull, Sea Mew, and Winter Gull. Mew Gulls are medium-sized gulls with a distinctive white head, gray wings, and a yellow bill with a black ring. They are found throughout Europe, Asia and North America, and are often seen near the coastlines of these regions. Mew gulls are opportunistic feeders, consuming a diverse range of prey including fish, mollusks, and insects. Despite being a common sight in many coastal areas, the Mew Gull population is considered to be stable.
