The Lesser Rorqual, also commonly known as the Minke Whale, is a species of baleen whale found in oceans around the world. There are several synonyms used for the Lesser Rorqual, including the Little Piked Whale, Dwarf Rorqual, and Sharp-headed Finner. Despite its name, the Lesser Rorqual is actually the second smallest baleen whale in existence, after the Pygmy Right Whale. These whales are known for their agile swimming skills and are highly active, often leaping out of the water and slapping the surface with their flippers. While they were once widely hunted, the Lesser Rorqual is now protected under international law.
