Liebigite is a rare mineral that is mainly found in hydrothermal veins. It is a complex hydrated copper uranium sulfate mineral that has a greenish or yellowish-white color. Despite its rarity, there are a few synonyms for the word liebigite. These include uranocuprite, copper uranite, and copper uranium oxide.
Uranocuprite is also a copper mineral that occurs in the oxidation zones of copper deposits. Copper uranite, on the other hand, is a secondary copper mineral that forms in the oxidized zones of uranium deposits. Lastly, copper uranium oxide is a generic term for minerals that contain both copper and uranium, such as carnotite and torbernite. However, out of all these synonyms, liebigite remains the most unique and distinct among them.
