The Little Brown Myotis, also known as the little brown bat or Myotis lucifugus, is a small mammal native to North America. Some synonyms for the Little Brown Myotis include the common brown bat, the little brown bat, and the mouse-eared bat. All these names refer to the same species and highlight different physical and behavioral characteristics. Often found in caves and other dark places, these bats are expert hunters and important contributors to the ecosystem. Unfortunately, populations of Little Brown Myotis have been on the decline due to habitat destruction and the spread of white-nose syndrome, a fungal disease that affects their hibernation patterns. Efforts are being made to protect these important flying mammals and restore their habitats.
