Loup-garou, also known as a werewolf, refers to a mythical creature that transforms from a human into a wolf-like creature, typically during a full moon. Several synonyms can be used to describe this mythical beast, such as shapeshifter, lycanthrope or loup-garoul. In some cultures, different variations of the word werewolf are used, such as vukodlak in Serbia, vlkodlak in Czech Republic, and hombre lobo in Spain. Although the origins of the myth vary from culture to culture, the image of a human turning into a beast under the light of the full moon is a universal image that has fascinated people for centuries.
