The Lunar Excursion Module (LEM), also known as the Lunar Module (LM), was a spacecraft developed by NASA in the 1960s as part of the Apollo program. It was designed to land on the lunar surface and return the astronauts back to the Command Module. There are several synonyms for this spacecraft, including the Lunar Lander, Moon Lander, Lunar Descent Module, and Lunar Ascent Module.
