Marshall Halls disease, also known as Madelung's disease or multiple symmetric lipomatosis, is a rare medical condition characterized by the excessive growth of benign fatty tumors (lipomas) in various regions of the body. Although the cause of this disease remains unknown, it is more commonly observed among middle-aged men, particularly those with a history of alcohol abuse. The term "Marshall Halls disease" is often used synonymously with Madelung's disease or multiple symmetric lipomatosis to refer to this condition. While treatments for Marshall Halls disease focus on symptom management, such as surgery to remove the lipomas, a cure for this condition has yet to be discovered.
