Musculus uvulae, also known as the uvular muscle, is a muscle located in the back of the throat that plays a crucial role in speech and swallowing. This muscle helps to control the position of the uvula, which in turn affects the sound and resonance of our voice. There are a few synonyms for musculus uvulae, including the levator veli palatini, which is responsible for elevating and lowering the soft palate, and the tensor veli palatini, which tenses and stiffens the soft palate. The pharyngopalatinus muscle is also involved in the movement of the uvula and is sometimes considered a synonym for musculus uvulae.
