Nycticebus pygmaeus is a scientific name given to the pygmy slow loris, a nocturnal primate species found in Southeast Asia. This small animal is also known by several other names in different regions like "Angwantibo" in Africa, "Jungle Raji" in Bangladesh, "Kukang hantu" in Indonesia, "Loris Bonda Anagashayya" in India, and many others. It is also referred to as the "lesser slow loris" and "lesser pygmy slow loris" due to its diminutive size and similarity to other slow loris species. Despite its cute appearance and popularity in the exotic pet trade, the pygmy slow loris is a protected species and threatened due to habitat loss and illegal hunting.
