Nydrazid is a drug used for the treatment and prevention of tuberculosis. It is also known as isoniazid, a synthetic derivative of hydrazine. Other synonyms for nydrazid include INH, Laniazid, Isozid, Rimifon, and Tubazid. These synthetic derivatives of hydrazine are used alone or in combination with other drugs for the treatment of bacterial infections. Nydrazid works by inhibiting the synthesis of mycolic acid, a component of the cell wall of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Though effective, nydrazid has some side effects, including liver damage, peripheral neuropathy, and rash, which can be managed with proper medical attention. It is essential to consult a healthcare provider before taking nydrazid or any other medication.
