Oncogenomics is the study of cancer genes and their functions. While the term oncogenomics is commonly used in the scientific community, there are several other synonyms that are used interchangeably. These include cancer genomics, tumor genomics, cancer genetics, and cancer genomic medicine. Each of these terms is used to describe the same field of study, which focuses on identifying genetic alterations and mutations that drive the growth and spread of cancer cells. The goal of this research is to develop new treatments and therapies that target these genetic defects and improve outcomes for patients with cancer.
