The oribi, a small African antelope, is also known by a few other names. In southern Africa, it is sometimes called the ourebi, while in East Africa it goes by the name of the steenbok. The oribi is closely related to other small antelopes such as the dik-dik and duiker, and can be distinguished by its long, slender legs and distinctive facial markings. Although not as well-known as other African species like the giraffe or lion, the oribi plays an important role in its ecosystem as a prey species and helps to maintain a balance in the food chain.
