Over-simplify is a term used when we express something in a very basic and simplistic manner. However, there are many other phrases and words that we can use instead of over-simplifying. Some synonyms that can be used are; to reduce, oversimplify, belittle, trivialize and underestimate. All of these synonyms have a similar meaning, but they have a slight difference in the context they can be used. We need to be aware of these synonyms and use them in a way that does not undermine the importance of what we are expressing. At times, it can be challenging to express something without putting too much light on it or over-simplifying it.
