The pampas fox, otherwise known as the South American fox or the Lycalopex gymnocercus, is a small carnivorous mammal that is native to the grasslands of South America. This unique species has several synonyms that are often used interchangeably, such as the aguará chaí, the pampean fox, and the plains fox. Nevertheless, these terms all refer to the same animal and share the same physical characteristics, including their reddish-brown fur, slender appearance, and bushy tail.
