A park strip, also known as a boulevard strip, is the narrow strip of land between the sidewalk and the curb in residential areas. There are a variety of synonyms for this area, such as a tree lawn, a buffer zone, a devil strip, a verge, a median, a neutral ground, and a greenway. Some localities also refer to it as a public right-of-way or a public easement. Whatever it may be called, this strip of land is often used as a decorative space, with residents planting trees, flowers, and shrubs. It also serves to separate pedestrian traffic from vehicular traffic and provides a natural barrier to noise and pollution.
