People of color is a term used to describe individuals who are not white. However, there are many synonyms that can be used to refer to this diverse group of individuals. These include BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), racial and ethnic minorities, individuals from historically marginalized communities, non-white individuals, and people from diverse backgrounds. Each of these terms aims to recognize the unique experiences, perspectives, and challenges faced by individuals who have been historically excluded and discriminated against due to their race, ethnicity, nationality, or cultural background. By using these inclusive terms, we can promote diversity, equity, and empathy towards all individuals, regardless of their race or ethnicity.
