Perodicticus potto is a small, nocturnal primate found in the rainforest regions of West and Central Africa. It is also known by several synonyms, including Arctocebus aureus, Arctocebus calabarensis, Perodicticus calabarensis, and Perodicticus edwardsi. The potto is a slow-moving, arboreal animal that feeds on insects, small vertebrates, and fruits. Its large, forward-facing eyes help it to see in the dark, and it has sharp claws and a prehensile tail to aid in climbing. The potto is often confused with the slow loris, although they are not closely related. The potto is listed as a vulnerable species due to habitat loss and hunting.
