Perthes Disease, also known as Legg-Calvé-Perthes Disease or simply Perthes, is a childhood condition that affects the hip joint. Synonyms for this condition include coxa plana, idiopathic avascular necrosis of the femoral head, and juvenile avascular necrosis. These terms are often used interchangeably to describe the same disorder, characterized by a disruption in the blood supply to the femoral head, resulting in its collapse and subsequent deformity. Though different names may be used, they all refer to the same pediatric hip disorder, which typically affects children between the ages of four and ten.
