The Spanish word "planeta" means planet in English, but there are plenty of other words that can be used as synonyms depending on the context and the specific attributes of a planet. For example, "astro", "cuerpo celeste" or "esfera planetaria" can refer to any celestial body orbiting a star. "Mundo" or "tierra" are more likely to refer to Earth specifically, while "satelite" may refer to a natural moon orbiting a planet, or an artificial one like the USSR's Sputnik. Other synonyms include "planetoide", "exoplaneta", "planeta enano" or "joviano" which give more information of the physical characteristics of the planet.
