A plasma display panel (PDP) is a flat panel display technology that uses small cells containing plasma gas to produce an image. There are several synonyms for the term PDP, including plasma screen, plasma TV, and plasma monitor. Plasma screens were widely used in the past as displays for TVs and computer monitors. However, they have now largely been replaced by LED and OLED screens, which are thinner and more energy-efficient. Despite this, PDP technology is still used in some specialized applications, such as large displays for outdoor advertising and as digital signage in public spaces.
