Polyethersulfone, sometimes abbreviated as PES, is a type of polymer used in a wide range of industries including medical, automotive, and electronics. Although PES is widely used, there are several synonyms used interchangeably. These include polyarylethersulfone (PAES), polysulfone (PSU), and polyphenylsulfone (PPSU). These polymers share many of the same properties as PES, such as high temperature resistance, chemical resistance, and good mechanical properties. However, they also have their own unique properties that make them suitable for specific applications. For example, PPSU is often used in medical equipment due to its biocompatibility and transparency, while PSU is used in automotive applications due to its extreme durability.
