Prosopagnosia, also known as face blindness, is a condition in which individuals find it difficult to recognize faces, including their own. There are several synonyms for Prosopagnosia, including facial agnosia, face blindness, and vision for faces. The condition may occur due to brain injury or damage to the fusiform gyrus, which is an area of the brain responsible for facial recognition. In some cases, prosopagnosia can be acquired, while in others, it may be present since birth. It's estimated that about one in 50 people may have some degree of prosopagnosia, and while treatment is available, it can require a significant amount of time, patience, and effort.
